So Guys,
the question "what is with the pig?!" has risen quite a lot over the last while, so I'm gonna get right down to it and introduce you to my lovely companion: Piggy 'Macbeth'!
My whole obsession with pigs started in 2011 when I was studying Art and Design (Printmaking) in Galway, Ireland. I was working on my degree show project and a lot of my research involved feminism and female sexuality. I researched these topics a lot and kept finding articles from feminists saying things like "women are being exploited by social media and are objectifying themselves" ... And yes, I can understand! The porn industry is making it hard for women to establish themselves and so on... But shouldn't women still be able to live out their sexuality wihtout fear of a feminist running after them telling them to put clothes on? Are women NOT allowed to be "pigs" and enjoy themselves to the fullest?!
My idea was that most women enjoy sex, life and just want to have fun. They should not be afraid to be themselves. With everything, one can take it overboard and ruin a reputation within a split second, but that is not every woman. Confidence is sexy --> and if you are confident with yourself, your body and your attitude, and act responsibly, then by all means GO FOR IT! Life is fun, for God's sake!
So as the project went on, I found the idea of the pig really intriguing. Not only was it meant to be a jokey subject that tackled feminists, but it was meant to give women the courage to act as they see fit for themselves. So, about half way into the project I strolled into a butchers and came out with a vacuum packed pig's head. I named him Hamlet and he lived in my small fridge for about a week. I used him to take a series of photographs, which I later used in my art pints. And that is when the love was born...
Obviously, I couldn't keep Hamlet forever (he did turn quite smelly after about 6 days) so a little while later I found Macbeth; a rubber piggy that has stayed with me since. When I started doing make up, I was fed up of all the "oh so beautiful" boring make up posts and wanted to give my blog a little twist. So here he is, haha! I guess it's needless to say I'm quite a pig fanatic at this stage... I WILL own a micro pig at some stage in my life, and my collection of piggy artefacts will probably never end...... Oh well!
Yours truly & Piggy 'Macbeth'
xoxo
